Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is a yogi, mystic and guru who has mastered yoga and runs an ashram, Isha Yoga Centre at Coimbatore which attracts millions of seekers from around the world. In his satsangs Sadhguru has explained the significance of the different medicinal systems. Sadhguru considers Ayurveda as the better system compared to Allopathy.
Sadhguru acknowledges the importance of allopathy as the best system in handling diseases occurring due to the infections caused by pathogens. He also appreciated the ability of allopathy to swiftly deal with emergency situations where there is no time for the patient to recover. So for life threatening and emergency situations like the victim of a severe accident, allopathy can do him the most good within the limited amount of time.
ALLOPATHY VS AYURVEDA
A majority of the diseases that occur in human beings are not from pathogen infections or accidents, a predominant majority of illness are self-generated due to bad lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits etc. and don’t actually demand time bound action for recovery. Comparing Allopathy and Ayurveda, a joyous Sadhguru quoted “If you are really in a state of emergency, going to an Ayurvedic doctor is not the best thing to do. You go to him only when you have time to recover. In an emergency, Allopathy has better systems than any other. But when your problems are mild and you know they are evolving, Ayurveda and other systems are very effective means of treatment.”
Ayurveda originates from an alternate dimension and comprehension of life. An essential piece of the Ayurvedic framework is about an understanding that our bodies are an aggregation of what we collected from the planet. The ideas of the planet and of the Pancha Bhutas or the five elements that make the planet are present in this physical body. It is significant that all that you do about this physical body has a relationship with the planet.
SCOPE FOR AYURVEDA
Sadhguru also appreciates Ayurveda for its holistic approach to understanding the human body. “Ayurveda teaches us how to use every tree, plant and bark as medicines, a lot have been found and deciphered by our sages but a lot more is yet to be discovered” he said hinting that there is a lot more to discover and do research upon in Ayurveda
ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EARTH AND HUMAN BODY
Sadhguru identifies a person with his soul and says ‘the human body grows in a soul from the Earth’. That is the physical body he says is generated from the nourishment provided by the earth. Hence when the body faces an illness it is best to look to things on earth like plants for the cure and not to those who extract chemicals from earth. “When there is a major repair in your car, it is best to go to the manufacturer than the local mechanic” he compares. The essence of Ayurveda is that all of us are manufactured by the earth and all the solutions to our problems will also come from the earth.
ON OTHER INDIAN SYSTEMS
Sadhguru considers Siddha systems and Yoga to be the best systems to stay healthy and immune to diseases but Siddha works only when combined with Sadhana (meditation) and Yoga in itself is a physical practice.
Yet to the credits of Sage Agasthya, the founder of Siddha system of medicine, he says inspite of being limited in the variety of herbs used Siddha system is the best to keep oneself healthy without any disease
AYURVEDA IS THE BEST MEDICINE
Siddha System is best for maintaining a good health but if a person is already ill Ayurveda is better to give him a cure. Ayurveda has also explored more herbs and plants than Siddha.
Siddha System can be successful only if the medicines are combined with Sadhana. Ayurveda has the potential to provide cure with the medicines alone and hence is the best system for the common man in todays world.
